Known locally as the 'Arch' Cruggleton castle dates from many ages, iron age, the dark ages then from from early medieval to the late 17th Centuary, it was a form of tower. This was a very important castle and one of the centres of the Lords of Galloway. Please see the links below.

There is a path running beside the castle which leads onwards towards Garlieston, it's an impressive view point high above the sea..
